Nagoya, Japan to become the first WCW Cruiserweight Champion.
Dean Malenko defeated Shinjiro Ohtani on 05/02/96 in Lake Buena Vista,
Florida to win the title.
Rey Mysterio, Jr. defeated Dean Malenko on 07/08/96 in Lake Buena
Vista, Florida to win the title.
Dean Malenko defeated Rey Mysterio, Jr. on 10/27/96 in Las Vegas,
Nevada at Halloween Havoc to win the title for the 2nd time.
Ultimo Dragon defeated Dean Malenko on 12/29/96 in Nashville, Tennessee
at Starrcade to win the title. 96/12/29 Nashville, TN
Dean Malenko defeated Ultimo Dragon on 01/21/97 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
at Clash of the Champions XXXIV to win the title for the 3rd time.
Syxx defeated Dean Malenko on 02/23/97 in San Francisco, California
at SuperBrawl VII to win the title.
Chris Jericho defeated Syxx on 06/28/97 in Inglewood, California to
win the title.
Alex Wright defeated Chris Jericho on 07/28/97 in Charleston, West
Virginia to win the title.
Chris Jericho defeated Alex Wright on 08/12/97 in Colorado Springs,
Colorado to win the title for the 2nd time.
Eddie Guerrero defeated Chris Jericho on 09/14/97 in Winston-Salem,
North Carolina at Fall Brawl to win the title.
Rey Mysterio, Jr. defeated Eddie Guerrero on 10/26/97 in Las Vegas,
Nevada at Halloween Havoc to win the title for the 2nd time.
Eddie Guerrero defeated Rey Mysterio, Jr. on 11/10/97 in Memphis,
Tennessee to win the title for the 2nd time.
Ultimo Dragon defeated Eddie Guerrero on 12/29/97 in Baltimore, Maryland
to win the title for the 2nd time.
Juventud Guerrera defeated Ultimo Dragon on 01/08/98 in Daytona Beach,
Florida to win the title.
Rey Mysterio, Jr. defeated Juventud Guerrera on 01/15/98
in Lakeland, Florida to win the title for the 3rd time.
Chris Jericho defeated Rey Mysterio, Jr. on 01/25/98 in Dayton, Ohio
to win the title for the 3rd time.
Dean Malenko defeated Chris Jericho on 05/17/98 in Worcester,
Massachusetts at Slamboree to win the title for the 4th time.
Malenko vacated the title on 06/11/98 in exchange
for getting a match with Jericho on 06/15/98 at The Great American Bash,
where a champion would be crowned.
Chris Jericho defeated Dean Malenko on 06/15/98 in Uniondale, New
York at The Great American Bash to win the vacant title for the 4th
time.
Jericho won the match by
disqualification.
Rey Mysterio, Jr. defeated Jericho to win the
title on 07/12/98 in San Diego, California at Bash at the Beach, but the
title change was nullified the next evening due to the interference of the
suspended Dean Malenko.
Juventud Guerrera defeated Chris Jericho on 08/08/98 in Sturgis, South
Dakota at Road Wild to win the title for the 2nd time.
Billy Kidman defeated Juventud Guerrera on 09/14/98 in Greenville,
South Carolina to win the title.
Juventud Guerrera defeated Billy Kidman on 11/16/98 in Wichita, Kansas
to win the title for the 3rd time.
Billy Kidman defeated Juventud Guerrera on 11/22/98 in Auburn Hills,
Michigan at World War III to win the title for the 2nd time.
Rey Mysterio, Jr. defeated Billy Kidman on 03/15/99 in Cincinnati,
Ohio to win the title for the 4th time.
Psychosis defeated Rey Mysterio, Jr., Juventud Guerrera, and Blitzkrieg
in a "Four Corners" match on 04/19/99 in Gainesville, Florida to win the
title.
Psychosis pinned Blitzkrieg to win the
title.
Rey Mysterio, Jr. defeated Psychosis on 04/26/99 in Fargo, North Dakota
to win the title. for the 5th time.
Lenny defeated Rey Mysterio, Jr. on 08/19/99 in Lubbock, Texas to
win the title.
Psychosis is awarded the title on 10/04/99 in Kansas City, Missouri
to become champion for the 2nd time.
Lenny was removed from television by WCW due
to he and tag team partner Lodi's controversial characters. Psychosis
was awarded the title off-camera, with the announcers stating he "recently
won the title". No such match ever took place.
Disco Inferno defeated Psychosis on 10/04/99 in Kansas City, Missouri
to win the title.
Evan Karagias defeated Disco Inferno on 11/21/99 on Toronto, Ontario,
Canada at Mayhem to win the title.
Madusa defeated Evan Karagias on 12/19/99 in Washington, D.C. at Starrcade
to win the title.
Oklahoma (Ed Ferrara) defeated Madusa on 01/16/00 in Cincinnati, Ojio
at Souled Out to win the title.
Oklahoma vacated the title on 01/18/00 after
winning the "Battle of the Sexes" against Madusa.
The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Iaukea defeated Lash LeRoux
on 02/20/00 in San Francisco, California in a Tournament Final to win the
title.
Billy Kidman defeated The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Iaukea on
03/30/00 in Baltimore, Maryland to win the title for the 3rd time.
The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Iaukea defeated Billy Kidman on
03/31/00 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to win the title for the 2nd time.
WCW Executives Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo
declared all titles vacant on 04/10/00 in Denver, Colorado.
Chris Candido defeated The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Iaukea,
Lash LeRoux, Juventud Guerrera, Crowbar, and Shannon Moore in a six-way match
on 04/16/00 in Chicago, Illinois to win the vacant title.
Candido pinned The Artist Formerly Known as
Prince Iaukea to win the title.
Crowbar wins the title on 05/15/00 in Biloxi, Mississippi in a tag
team match between Chris Candido & Tammy and Crowbar & Daffney.
Daffney pinned Tammy to win the match.
Daffney assumed she was the champion for scoring the pinfall, leading
to a dispute with Crowbar. A match was set up the following week to
declare an undisputed champion.
Daffney defeated Crowbar on 05/22/00 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to
win the title.
Lt. Loco (Chavo Guerrero, Jr.) defeated Daffney and Disco Inferno
in a "triple threat" match on 06/06/00 in Knoxville, Tennessee to win
the title.
Lt. Loco pinned Disco Inferno.
Lance Storm defeated Lt. Loco on 07/31/00 in Cinncinatti, Ohio to
win the title.
Elix Skipper is given the title by Lance Storem on 08/14/00 in Kelowna,
British Columbia, Canada.
Mike Sanders defeated Elix Skipper on 10/02/00 in San Francisco,
California to win the title.
This was a handicapped match with Sanders &
Kevin Nash Vs. Skipper in which you had to powerbomb your opponent before
making the pin. Sanders pinned Skipper after Nash powerbombed him to
win the title.
Chavo Guerrero, Jr. defeated Elix Skipper on 12/04/00 in Lincoln,
Nebraska to win the title for the 2nd time.
Shane Helms defeated Chavo Guerrero, Jr. on 03/18/01 in Jacksonville,
Florida at Greed to win the title.
World Championship Wrestling was purchased by
the World Wrestling Federation during this title reign. Helms is still
recognized as the champion, with the title defended on WWF
programming.
Billy Kidman defeated Gregory Helms on 07/03/01 in Tacoma, Washington
to win the title for the 4th time.
X-Pac (Syxx) defeated Billy Kidman on 07/30/01 in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania to win the title for the 2nd time.
Billy Kidman defeated X-Pac on 10/09/01 in Moline, Illinois to win
the title for the 5th time.
Tajiri defeated Billy Kidman on 10/22/01 in Kansas City, Missouri
to win the title.
Tajiri is recognized as the last WCW Cruiserweight
Champion. The title became known as "The Cruiserweight Title", and
later the WWF Cruiserweight Title after World Championship Wrestling was
put out of business as the 2001 WWF Survivor Series pay-per-view event on
11/18/01.
